What to do with your Dyne quilt or pillow when it arrives

Remove your quilt or pillow from its packaging and gently shake it to help restore its shape. As it has been compressed for packaging, place it on your bed and allow it to expand naturally. Within a few hours it will regain its loft and fluffiness.

How to care for your quilt or pillow on a daily basis

Air your quilt or pillow regularly to maintain freshness and prolong its lifespan. The easiest way to remember this is when you wash your bedlinen pop your quilt or pillow outside to air to help dissipate moisture and perspiration. If the weather is inclement and you have a tumble dryer 10 minutes on a cool cycle will do wonders.

Please do rotate your quilt from end to end when placing back on your bed, this will even out the general wear and tear and helps keep the down in its proper place.

If you pack your quilt away after the winter season please avoid packing in a plastic bag or a space saver bag as this can damage the delicate downs. Store in a breathable cotton bag or an old sheet or cover so the downs can breathe naturally.

• Wash in a front loader machine only.
• Select a wool wash detergent and a gentle wool wash cycle.
• DO NOT HOT WASH as this will strip the natural oils from the downs.
• Drying is the most important part of the cleaning process.
• If at all possible take it to your local laundromat and place it in one of their large industrial dryers on a low temperature setting and regularly check and shake it thoroughly to redistribute the filling (most laundromat dryers have a reverse action that helps prevent the quilt from tangling).
• Drying can take up to 2 – 2 ½ hours so please be patient. If your quilt still feels lumpy tumble dry for an extra 30 minutes.

Never store the quilt until you are certain it is completely dry.

Can I dry clean my quilt or pillow?

Yes, but please choose a reputable cleaner with experience in caring for down and feather filled bedding. Ask about their cleaning process and request an environmentally friendly cleaning method that does not use harsh chemicals. Some cleaners may also offer a specialised washing service.

How long will my quilt or pillow last?

With proper care, regular airing and appropriate cleaning, your quilt can last up to 15 – 20 years, while your pillow can last around 8 – 10 years. Remember regular airing and seasonal cleaning will help preserve its comfort, freshness and longevity.
